A Dock And Some Riff Raff

Hello from a deserted town,

Jeff and I took a little break from this Kick”nates” blog. But i got some time and some things i would like to say so i thought this would be a worthy time to write. If you are still trying to figure out what “nates” is worry no more! Nates according to a nurse in training is another name for your butt cheek. So naturally all my friends with the name Nate have suffered from this recent discovery. Your job is to spread the Stoke. The term nates is “swiffering” the nation! (thanks to Dane Cook for that line)

So Ive gotten to do some reading lately. you may be asking, “Zack can read?” , yes he can. I was given this book last CHRISTmas by a dear ole friend. The Book, is humbly called God in the Dock, by C.S. Lewis. It contains 48 essays and 12 letters ranging from logic of theology to the role of women in church. The title’s meaning has been lost to modern culture. But back in the day a dock is the area a man would sit if he is on trial. Thus, God in the Dock is God on trial. so go pick up a copy and give it a read. you may want some advil, Lewis has been known to give me a few head aches.

Now onto some riff! We have a new band of the weekish! Ive been listening to them a lot as of late and put them on with out Jeff’s approval. Not the he would disapprove, i know he like the band but i just want there to be diversity in our music out put which is why i am BAND OF THE WEEKish PALOOZA!!! You guessed it two bands in one week!

With the previous paragraph summing up the riff. Attention must now be directed towards the raff!

Here is a poem i would like you to read, its called Dammit I’m Mad

Dammit I’m mad.
Evil is a deed as I live.
God, am I reviled? I rise, my bed on a sun, I melt.
To be not one man emanating is sad. I piss.
Alas, it is so late. Who stops to help?
Man, it is hot. I’m in it. I tell.
I am not a devil. I level “Mad Dog”.
Ah, say burning is, as a deified gulp,
In my halo of a mired rum tin.
I erase many men. Oh, to be man, a sin.
Is evil in a clam? In a trap?
No. It is open. On it I was stuck.
Rats peed on hope. Elsewhere dips a web.
Be still if I fill its ebb.
Ew, a spider… eh?
We sleep. Oh no!
Deep, stark cuts saw it in one position.
Part animal, can I live? Sin is a name.
Both, one… my names are in it.
Murder? I’m a fool.
A hymn I plug, deified as a sign in ruby ash,
A Goddam level I lived at.
On mail let it in. I’m it.
Oh, sit in ample hot spots. Oh wet!
A loss it is alas (sip). I’d assign it a name.
Name not one bottle minus an ode by me:
“Sir, I deliver. I’m a dog”
Evil is a deed as I live.
Dammit I’m mad.

Read it one more time let it sink in.

now that you have read this poem i would like to ask you if you know what a palindrome is? If you know then you are already doing this but if you dont i would like you to note that a palindrome is something that can be read backwards or frontwards and it spells the same thing. For instance “Anna”, “Hannah”, or “do geese see God?

This is the longest poetic palindrome ever written. and it was written by Demetri Martin.

Well this has been fun, let the record show that last night i successfully cut an M&M in half with a 6′ft bull whip. (jeff i hope you are laughing as hard as i am right now)

thank you and good night.

Band of the Week-ish

Here we go with another music thing. Dude’s name this week is Andrew Bird. He plays violin and guitar and he sings. Also, Nick Wells likes him.

“Bird could be the only performer who’s lit up both Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo with a combination of vocals, violin, guitar, glockenspiel and whistling… he uses centuries-old instrumentation to give depth and soul to folk rock.”–ESQUIRE “The Masters Are Dead–Long Live The Masters,” November 2008

  • January 20, 2009 – Andrew Bird releases Noble Beast on Fat Possum Records. The self-produced album consists of 14 original songs recorded primarily at the Beech House in Nashville, with additional recording taking place at various Chicago and Minneapolis locations over a period of five months. As usual, Bird handles violin, vocals, whistling and guitar, with back-up from live cohorts Martin Dosh (percussion, looping, keys), Jeremy Ylvisaker (guitar, bass, organ, shortwave) and more recently Mike Lewis, plus a supporting cast including Kelly Hogan, Todd Sickafoose, and the band Loney Dear.

Here is his site. And, here is a video[s]

If any of these videos suck, I’m sorry, I didn’t watch them first.
